Island hop with Street View through the Philippines

If you’re going to capture imagery of an archipelago with 7,017 islands to share with the world on Google Maps, you’d better be prepared for the terrain that comes with it. Since we first hit the roads in the Philippines in January last year, we’ve taken our Street View camera on a real adventure.

Strapped to the back of our Street View Trekker operator, we’ve taken it down cliffs on Antonia Island…

...climbed the grassy hillsides of Mount Pulag…

...gone out to sea in Barangay Linga in Laguna at low-tide...

...and found our way back to shore on the back of a bangka.

While there’s nothing like a real-world adventure, whether you’re a history junkie, a beachcomber, or a sports buff, we’ve got something—or somewhere—for you to explore on Street View.

A 360-degree view of 300 years of Philippine history
Street View’s 35 historic Philippine sites, including eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites reflect the country’s Spanish influence and unique identity. Here are just two of them.

You can wander the cobblestone streets of Vigan, closed to all traffic except the horse-drawn calesa.

And then take in the stunning bas-relief work on the facade of the baroque Miag-ao Church on the island of Iloilo. You can zoom in close enough to see the Spanish, Chinese and Muslim influences in the imagery. A coconut tree represents the tree of life.

Sun & sand
It’s no secret that the Philippines has some of the most world's most beautiful beaches. Come explore some of our favorite sandy destinations and start planning your next holiday in the sun.

Sport pop culture
A visit to the Philippines can’t end without a nod to one of its greatest sporting icons: Manny Pacquiao. Street View will take you to his hometown of General Santos City, where you can drive by his Wildcard Gym.

The Wildcard Gym in General Santos City is named after the gym Manny Pacquiao trained at in Los Angeles

Mapping this archipelago has been no small feat, but thanks to the support of the Philippine Department of Tourism, we can share a glimpse of what this country has to offer. We look forward to more adventures ahead as we take Street View to new places across these islands.
