The PSP waste managers, numbering about 350, had filed a lawsuit at the Lagos State High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square, challenging their sacking by the state.
They prayed the court to restrain the state government from managing solid wastes in the state through a foreign company, Visionscape Group, which is operating in partnership with two Nigerian companies – Visionscape Sanitation Solutions Limited and ABC Solutions Limited.
At the resumed proceedings in the case on Tuesday, the counsel for the PSP waste managers, Mr. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, told the presiding judge, Taofiquat Oyekan-Abdullahi, that the dispute leading to the case with the state had been settled.
He said Governor Akinwunmi Ambode had met with his clients and the state had absorbed about 213 PSP waste managers into its new waste management scheme, tagged, Cleaner Lagos Initiative.
Adegboruwa said the details of the terms of settlement were being worked out, adding that same would be filed before the court when ready.
Counsel for the state, Mr. S.A. Quadri, said the government was committed to an amicable resolution of the dispute.
Other defence counsel in the case spoke in a similar vein.
Justice Oyekan-Abdullahi encouraged the parties to follow through with the out-of-court settlement.
She said the court would be willing to adopt the terms of the settlement.
The case was adjourned till October 26, 2017.
