Dubai's DU telecoms partners with beIN for exclusive rights to broadcast the FIFA #WorldCup in GCC

Football fans, we've got some good news for you.

Yesterday, beIN sports channels disappeared from televisions across Dubai, throwing the prospect of watching the World Cup live into jeopardy. But now du has struck a last-minute deal with the network, which holds the exclusive rights to broadcast the FIFA tournament in the Gulf region (GCC), following the "sudden and unexpected loss of service". It means that the channels are back in action and you'll be able to catch all the latest from Russia, with two weeks to go until the main matches kick off.

Generally, games will start between 2pm and 11pm during the opening round of group stage fixtures (which takes place between Thursday June 14 and Tuesday 19). Matchdays two and three, held between Tuesday June 19 and Thursday 28, will see the vast majority of matches kick off at 4pm, 7pm and 10pm. In a tweet yesterday, du had said it was "temporarily unable to show beIN sport channels & packages” after viewers noticed the channels were missing. But as of this morning, the telecoms operator's website has been updated to explain that "beIN channels are back and the regular broadcasting has resumed" just in time for the World Cup.
