However, the update on Hushpuppi's record obtained by BBC Pidgin from BOP.gov Federal Bureau of Prisons website on Thursday morning shows that the popular Instagram influencer was no longer on the MCC Chicago inmate record again, in fact the record shows that he was released on 20th July.
However, Hushpuppi's lawyer Gal Pissetzky told local media that they only transfer his client from Chicago to California, not that he is now a free man.
Although the court has not found him guilty of the charges, Hushpuppi still has criminal cases to answer for in California.
Pissetzky, a Chicago top criminal lawyer, told The PUNCH on Wednesday night that:
"He (Hushpuppi) has not been released and I am still his lawyer. He is on his way to California. Not everything written on court documents are accurate."
"Just because the jail record says 'released' doesn't mean he has been. He is being transferred to California." The lawyer told PUNCH correspondent on the phone.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons uploaded Hushpuppi's name on the BOP website on Monday night, 6 July, 2020 .

The extradition of popular Nigeria social media celebrity, Ramoni Igbalode AKA Hushpuppi and Lekan Ponle AKA Woodbery to the United States to face charges of internet crime has caused a lot of discussion on social media.
Dubai police had arrested the two alleged internet hackers plus 10 other peoplein the operation code named 'Fox Hunt 2'.
The operation took down the suspects for committing crimes outside the UAE, including money-laundering, cyber fraud, hacking, criminal impersonating, scamming individuals, banking fraud and identity theft.
The Director of the Dubai CID said from the raid, documents of one planned fraud worth $435 million was also recovered.
Dubai police also listed other things seized:
- More than $40.9 million cash
- 13 expensive cars worth $6.8 million
- 21 computer devices
- 47 smartphones
- 15 memory sticks
- Five hard disks containing 119,580 fraud files
- Address of 1,926,400 victims.
On Thursday the Dubai police said they had handed over Hushpuppi and Woodbery to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) prosecution in America.
