Bloody Ramadan As Militia Attack Leaves 12 Dead

Up to 12 people were killed on Monday when a militia group attacked the city of Beni in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, local sources told AFP.
“The provisional toll is 12 civilians killed by machete and firearms,” Beni Mayor Modeste Bakwanamaha said on Tuesday, adding that violence resumed in the southeast of the city shortly after daybreak. Other sources put the death toll at 11.
